CONCURRENT SESSIONS

Beyond Compliance: Building a Data Governance Framework That Works

Data sharing isn't just about saying "yes" or "no"—it's about creating sustainable systems that protect your agency while enabling critical operations. This session begins with an overview of Nlets, exploring how this critical infrastructure supports law enforcement and motor vehicle data sharing across jurisdictions. You'll gain a foundational understanding of Nlets' role in your operations before diving into the practical work of building robust data governance frameworks. Learn how to establish defined use cases, manage access controls, and implement effective audit and sanction processes that align DPPA requirements. Discover how to balance data accessibility with security requirements, develop clear policies that withstand scrutiny, and build accountability mechanisms that protect both your data and your jurisdiction.

Modernized Driver Testing: Trends and Tools

Discover the newest trends shaping the future of driver testing — from modern approaches to knowledge exams to the latest innovations in road test practices. This session highlights emerging tools such as online knowledge testing, updated road exam methodologies, and other forward thinking initiatives being implemented across jurisdictions.

From Temp Tags to Custom Swag: Modernizing the License Plate Journey

Temporary plates get vehicles on the road fast, while personalized plates help drivers express who they are—but both come with operational complexities. In this session, we’ll examine the full lifecycle of temporary and personalized license plate issuance, highlighting opportunities for modernization, fraud reduction, and customer delight. Using real-world scenarios and cross-state insights, we’ll discuss emerging technologies, policy innovations, and process improvements that can elevate accuracy, efficiency, and safety across vehicle programs.
